The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) is a new appearance in the area of Lithuanian higher education. On 30 June 2010, the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania passed a resolution to merge Kaunas University of Medicine (KMU) and the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy (LVA). Now LSMU is the biggest institution of higher education for biomedical sciences in Lithuania, continuing the best traditions of KMU and LVA. The University is the largest institution of higher education for biomedical sciences in Lithuania, successfully integrating studies, research and clinical practice. LSMU consists of two main academies: Medical Academy and Veterinary Academy.

LSMU is an active participant of the ERASMUS exchange programme. Students may study at foreign universities or go abroad for practice for the period up to one year. The contracts of academic exchange have been signed with universities in 26 European countries. The majority of ERASMUS partners are in Germany, Spain, France, Finland and other EU Member States.

The Sports Centre develops joint projects with the Lithuanian Physical Culture and Sports Department, the Lithuanian Students Sports Association, the Lithuanian Association “Sports for All”, and the Lithuanian Association “Gymnastics for All”. Targeted occupational, prevention and education programmes are implemented on the basis of the partnership leading to the successful socialisation of young people, involvement of their cultural maturity and self-expression. Every year, we represent our Alma Mater in LAAE championships (track and field, swimming, tennis, table tennis, sports aerobics, badminton, chess, wrestling, weightlifting, judo, and fencing), basketball players participate in the Lithuanian student basketball league and B and C leagues of Kaunas basketball fans. In addition, we participate in the traditional festival of the Lithuanian Association “Sports for All” in Palanga, the Lithuanian student Olympic Festival, the Lithuanian gymnast games organised by the Lithuanian Association “Gymnastics for All” and cooperate with other universities. We represent the country in international projects of the Lithuanian Association “Gymnastics for all”. Contacts and more information:
